Here’s your chance to make a difference AND purchase something hand-crafted by Hope Solo. This year at the VH1 Do Something Awards, the lovely Hope Solo received an award in the Do Something Athlete category due to her charitable work off the field; notably with PopChips and the Seattle Children’s Hospital. While at the awards show, the celebrities were asked to paint the Do Something sneaker. Here’s the link to where you can bid on one painted by Hope Solo herself:

We don’t do giveaways often, but when we do, it’s to keep people interested and to reward them for being viewers of our site and supporters of Hope.
I don’t know about anyone else, but in the past, I’ve found it difficult to find a magazine in which Hope Solo was on the cover of available to purchase. When Hope was on the cover of ESPN’s Body Issue last year, I searched over 5 Barnes and Noble bookstores in the DC area and managed to find only one copy. I even gave away that copy because I knew it was more important for me to do so that to keep it for myself.
This time around, I was a bit more fortunate. I managed to buy the last two copies of the “Newsweek” magazine issue pictured above at the first Barnes and Noble I went to. I will be giving one copy away.
So without further ado, here are the rules for the Newsweek magazine giveaway:
- 1.) You must live within the continental United States. I hate to have to do this, but I can’t afford to ship it overseas.
- 2.) You can only submit one entry per person
- 3.) Your single entry can be submitted between now and July 30th
- 4.) Both of your answers to the two-part question must be correct
Now that you’ve read the rules, here’s what you have to do. Simply leave a comment on this post with your answer to the two-part question below. A winner who answers BOTH parts of the question correctly will be selected at random. Here’s the two-part question:
In what year did Hope Solo record an assist and what professional team was she playing for at the time?
